The desert beyond the dunes
Erg Chebbi is the star, but the land around it is full of stories: black stone plains where nomads still live in tents, villages founded by former slaves who kept their Gnawa music alive, a seasonal lake with flamingos, abandoned mines and rocks full of 350-million-year-old fossils.
A 4x4 tour is the relaxed way to see it all. No driving skills needed: your local driver handles the sand and the tracks, tells you the history of each place and stops for tea with a nomad family. It is perfect for families, older travellers and anyone who prefers to enjoy the view.

Can I combine it with the camp?
Yes. The afternoon 4x4 tour can end at our luxury camp, with a short camel ride for the sunset.
How many people fit in a 4x4?
Up to 6 passengers per vehicle. For bigger groups we add more cars, each with its own driver.
What is the best time of day?
Morning and late afternoon, when the sand is cooler and the light is beautiful. In summer we ride only at sunrise and sunset.
