Merzouga 4x4 Desert Tour around Erg Chebbi
Half a day by 4x4 around Erg Chebbi: nomad families, Khamlia's Gnawa music, the black desert, fossils and the seasonal lake.
Sit back in a comfortable 4x4 while your local driver takes you around the great dunes. We start with the Dayet Srji lake, which fills after the rains and attracts flamingos, then drive on the hamada to a nomad family who still lives in a traditional tent.
After tea with the family we continue to Khamlia for a Gnawa music session and to an old mining area full of fossils. The tour ends on a dune for the view, or at sunset if you choose the afternoon departure. Ideal for families and those who prefer not to drive.

Before you ride
What will I see on a 4x4 tour?
The dunes from every side, a nomad family, the Gnawa village of Khamlia, the black desert, fossils, old mines and, after the rains, a lake with flamingos.
Can I combine it with the camp?
Yes. The afternoon 4x4 tour can end at our luxury camp, with a short camel ride for the sunset.
How many people fit in a 4x4?
Up to 6 passengers per vehicle. For bigger groups we add more cars, each with its own driver.
What is the best time of day?
Morning and late afternoon, when the sand is cooler and the light is beautiful. In summer we ride only at sunrise and sunset.
