Half Day Buggy Safari in Merzouga

4 hoursErg Chebbi · HamadaAdventurePrivate

Four hours of buggy adventure: big dune climbs, fast desert tracks, fossil sites, nomads and Khamlia. The complete Merzouga safari.

Our longest buggy ride is a real safari around Erg Chebbi. The morning or afternoon starts with the big dunes, where your guide shows you how to climb steep slopes and descend safely, then the route opens onto the hamada for long, fast tracks.

We stop at fossil quarries, at a nomad tent for tea and in Khamlia for Gnawa music, and we finish with the best dunes of the day. Expect sand spray, wide grins and a lot of photos. Drivers should feel comfortable at the wheel.

Good to know

The driver needs a car driving licence. Wear closed shoes and sunglasses; the buggy can carry one passenger.

No payment is needed to book: you pay on the day in cash (dirhams or euros). Free changes if the weather is not good.

Before you ride

Do I need a driving licence for the buggy?

We ask the driver to have a car driving licence. The passenger does not need anything, just a sense of adventure.

Is the buggy good for families?

Yes. With seat belts and a roll cage it is the safest way to share the dunes with older children sitting next to a parent.

Is it difficult to drive on the dunes?

Not with a guide. He chooses the lines and shows you how to climb and descend. You simply follow his tracks at your own pace.

What is the best time of day?

Morning and late afternoon, when the sand is cooler and the light is beautiful. In summer we ride only at sunrise and sunset.
