Sandboarding Adventure in Merzouga
Surf the big dunes of Erg Chebbi on a sandboard: easy slopes for beginners, long steep faces for the brave, and lots of laughs.
Sandboarding is like snowboarding on warm sand, and Erg Chebbi has some of the best slopes in Morocco. We give you a board, show you how to wax it and how to stand, and start on a gentle slope where falling is soft and fun.
When you feel ready we move to the longer faces of the big dunes. You can ride standing, sitting or lying on your belly like a sledge. The only hard part is walking back up, so we take breaks with tea and water. Best in the morning or late afternoon.

Good to know
Bring water, a hat and sunscreen. Sand gets everywhere: wear clothes you don't mind getting sandy.
No payment is needed to book: you pay on the day in cash (dirhams or euros). Free changes if the weather is not good.
Before you ride
Is the camel ride comfortable?
Yes, our camels are calm and used to visitors, and the cameleer walks with you all the time. If you prefer, we can take you to the camp by 4x4.
What is the luxury camp like?
Private tents with a real bed, private bathroom, hot shower and electricity, a dining tent and a fire area for music under the stars.
What should I bring for the night?
A small bag with a warm layer, a torch and your toiletries. Big luggage can stay at our base or travel to the camp by 4x4.
Is it cold at night in the desert?
From November to February nights can drop close to 0 °C, but the tents have thick blankets. In summer the nights are warm and pleasant.
